Display of Insurance disk

The closest similar thread seems to be over a year old so didn't want to reopen it.

I was in a crash several weeks ago and I am still without my car as the garage had trouble getting one of the parts. Since it ran on so long they have given me a replacement car yesterday which I will return next Thursday. I have rang the insurance company and transferred the insurance already.

However it has just occurred to me that I am not displaying a valid disk since the disc is in my own car in the garage and the disc wouldn't have this cars name on it anyways.

Obviously I can and will carry my policy documents with me. I can't get my disc back from the garage as the reason they gave me the car was because I was travelling to Mayo (from Dublin) for work until Thursday. What am I supposed to do in this situation? Can I get penalty points for non-display? Or a fine? Really can't afford a fine!

You'll probably get 10 days to produce your documents.

But I'll have my documents with me, its the disc I wouldn't have?

They may still request you to produce them to a station within 10 days even if you have them with you..

    Don't worry.
Legally you are not required to display disc for the first 10 days of insurance cover.
So assuming you swapped it for replacement car yesterday, you still have 9 days left, during which you can driver without insurance disc 100% legally.

    5. (1) When a vehicle is used in a public place the insurance disc for the vehicle shall be carried on the vehicle at all times after the expiry of 10 days from the date of authentication of the certificate of insurance.
