    Hi,

Is it possible to adopt a child if we're not homeowners?

You don't say if you are trying to adopt from here in Ireland or abroad ? The requirements vary from place to place - from the limited contact I had with the Irish adoption process , it would be a red flag - but maybe not an insurmountable one ( they have particularly high standards here as there is a relatively low number of adoptions here)

Yes, is the short and simple.
You do not need to be a home owner to adopt.
It may or may not go against you in the assessment process, but owning a home is not one of the criteria that is specifically assessed.
A stable family unit (which would most probably include income- but would definitely include a family's medical history) would be included.

The assessment procedure is long and arduous, and not for the faint hearted. If you're genuine, in reasonable health and means, and capable of giving a child a good home (and note- in all of this, its whats best for the child, not whats best for the prospective adoptive parents)- then you should pass the assessment, providing you don't breach other criteria (such as age for example).

    Kind regards,

    Shane
