You'll have to wait a while longer until the ground dries out and warms up. Why not start some seedlings indoors in the mean time.

Don't bother. Hardy veg aren't nearly so hardy when they're seedlings. The only stuff I'd plant outside now would be fruit trees, fruit bushes, rhubarb and asparagus.

The forecast is pretty bad up until next Friday, so I'd hold off and see how things look then. A week or two in cold weather like this isn't going to give any benefits anyway. Even in the poly tunnel I've had -4 the last week, and -6 the week before. Not mention how wet it is!

I gave up on planting outside two weeks ago :(
Greenhouse is filled top to bottom with pots of all sizes with veg and flowers (hopefully) trying to sprout!
So delayed this year, wish this cold spell would just end!

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

My soil temperature was a fraction below zero 10 days ago. That was before the current cold snap.
For most veg you need the temperature around 7`C.

Unless the vegetables are very cold tolerant I wouldn't bother until the soil heats up. They're not going to grow and you're just extending their exposure to pests and diseases.

Go with Redsers advice and get some seeds growing inside, as there is still more cold weather ahead. At this stage in the growing season, you can actually plant most of the common vegetables in pots indoors. Use those handy little module trays if you have them and put them on a windowsill, just watch that they don't dry out. Whatever you are planting in, if you can cover it with a plastic bag or clingfilm until the seeds begin to peep up it stops the soil from drying out (watering germinating seeds can disturb the soil and interfere with the process).
