    If so, then why lock threads were discussions are taking place?

    If users need to be moderated, then moderate them - there should be no need to lock a thread unless it has completely gone off topic, has broke a rule of the charter, or has become about bashing / bullying a Boards user or member of the public.

    The 'fix us a sandwich' thread was understandably locked on that basis but the above linked to 'Double standards' thread was not.

    I only wish a proper explanation was added to the closing post of a thread by a mod. As to what rule something is breaking / why it's being closed, some people will never know.

    After hours is a busy forum, the mods are volunteers so dont always have time to add a mod note. Best course of action is to pm the mod or start a thread in feedback, not AH
