Hi all, currently im basically not up to much and have been sending in CV's to a few companies looking for telephone support staff.

ebay and paypal were the most recent ones

I did hear from paypal and got an interview, which i thought went ok and then i never heard a single thing back.
My brother who also applied for same job didnt get an interview but was at least notified that he had been unsuccessful.

I think ive applied for about 3 ebay jobs and i havent heard anything back from them at all!!!

How appropiate is it for me to call them and make sure they are at the very least seeing my CV.

I think my CV is really good and cant fathom why im not even getting an interview.

You should definitely call them. At least get some feedback from the interview. Good luck.

Most likely because they are receiving hundreds of CVs.

    Example:

I remember trying to hire an accounts person. I got about 100 CVs in a few days. I am sure some of them were amazing, but 100 is too many, so I didn't read them all. I grabbed perhaps 30 of them and made my interview short-list from that.

I made sure everyone (excluding the person I hired) received a PFO.

    My advice:

    Keep applying, don't give up.

i know, thanks, but i thought a letter to say "im sorry, not this time" was the de facto standard?

i mean, if the dole come knocking i have no proof that i've been applying for jobs etc.

    A PFO is a courtesy...

Regarding proof of job applications, does the job website you use have "application tracking"? This means they keep a log of every job you either look at or apply for. Normally you need to be logged into the job website for this to work.

What difference does it make? The only letter that matters is the "congrats, you're hired letter". Until that comes in the door assume you don't have the job.

It might have been back in the olden days. Pretty rare these days though.

Just keep a list of the places/jobs you've applied to. Even Welfare know that the world has changed.

Why not? Did'nt you at least keep a record of the Companies and positions you've applied to recently?

And if you've applied through a jobs website, your application history should be available to view when you log into your account.

Thats news to me,when i was at my to 3 month interview, the interviewer ask me to forward emails all jobs i applyed for to him off the FAS site, as the reply on the site are direct to ccompany's own email address, no record.
but i must say, found interviewer very understanding with the job situation.
