hate when this happens. how much of. bottle are you giving him? I wonder is he getting too comfy with you coming in and feeding him. you have probably also tried putting him onto the cow and forcing the tit into his mouth.

Firstly you need to get beastings onto him any way you can. Either get him to suck the cow or milk out plenty and bottle it into him.
For the beastings don't worry about anything only getting plenty into him as early as possible, this will make or break him long term.

After that it's a matter of perseverance. When he's nosing round the udder is he actually sucking. There is an injection you can get from the vet that makes them suck like crazy. If this is given at the right time, and your there to guide him onto the teat then it can be hugely successful.

Our last Ch bull was a torture 90% of the calves had no sucking interest on calving. Ves said it was a combination of breeding and feeding, minerals that is.

    Focus on the beastings first.

Getting him well hydrated is key to having him strong and hungry. Administer electrolytes about 30 minutes before you spend the time trying to get him to suck, this will make him strong and hungry, perfect for training to the teat.

    Get plenty of beastings in.
Get the injection from the vet.
    Keep him hydrated.
    Don't starve him too much.
Clean the cows teats and then smear them with plenty of fresh milk before starting.
