Tried the new TM Rocketballz S2 last week with a 'stock' Matrix shaft and hit it well. Want to find out if there are any shaft upgrades available. Not sure I want to fork out another 50e in Foregolf but don't think there are any alternatives and they have sown the seeds of doubt in my mind that all stock shafts are crap. Is there any truth that a stock shaft by Matrix or Aldila in a TM or Callaway is not as good as a 'premium' separately bought shaft? And is there any FG alternatives?
Was getting over 200 yds carry with the 3 wood into a stiff breeze with the stock shaft so not sure if i could get much more in any event with a different shaft

Yeah read all about this when my driver came with a Matrix shaft, seemingly it true, the stock Matrix doesn't have some fancy "technology" that the real shaft does. But the Black Tie shaft (I would love to get) is $320 and my driver only cost €100:D

As far as I'm aware most stock shafts are cheaper versions of the real thing, e.g. "made for Titleist". They aren't manufactured to as strict a tolerance as a real shaft would be. This is because the clubmaker wants a cheap solution which will suit the vast majority of the golfing public.

This is a good video about it.

thanks for video and plenty of others like it on you tube. I suppose it comes down to how much you want to spend and more importantly in your own "mind" are you happy with the consistent performance from a stock shaft.

    Hi,
Plenty of good quality after market shafts you just need to know what you need and do a bit of shopping around lots of new shafts brought out each year. Golf wrks is a good place to do a bit of research.

If you've been fitted by foregolf before, they will recommend a shaft for you based on the stats from that fitting. I bought a new rocketballz hybrid at Christmas based on my fitting 10 months before. It seems strange not to have hit with the shaft you are buying but I'm happy with the one I got.
