Are the short and low newer model (06+) transits any better than the older version?

Had few problems with the older model but still liked it at the end of the day.

    Are they better on diesel?

EGR valve , ( as you should know :D) . Otherwise had no bother at all with mine.
Far better than the Trafic I had before it.

Ive worked it out at around 29 mpg. I don't hang around and have full load of ladders on roof . With ladders off on a run can get over 35.
What did you get out of your old one?

30 ish. Was always told the newer model 40mpg was achievable without driving like a old fella.

Saying that the primastars are ment to be much easier to get those figures

I know someone getting 40mpg out of a 08 SWB transit and he generally has a good bit of stuff in it. He thinks its great on fuel. We have a lwb high roof Renault master which would be way bigger and it doing 3mpg loaded and not driving slow. I thought it would have been easy easy enough to get 4pg out of a SWB transit tbh as corkgsxr said. Still it's probably an improvement on the old transit.

I did find the Trafic better on fuel than the Transit.

04, had it from new also. Good on diesel , but gave me a few other problems , clutch, gearbox , EGR , leaking roof! . It's why I traded in for Transit after only 4 years . But Trafic faster and better drive and ride I thought .
