Have we gone totally mad with the compensation culture in this nation?
Do we really have 76K to shell out because the couple in question were upset at the sound of corrugated sheets being hammered into their door and window for like 5 minutes, I mean emotional distress? Really?
I mean there were no injuries and although I suppose it must have been quite scary you do actually get over these things! But 76 k ?? DO ME A FAVOUR!:mad:

That's what they wanted originally, but the settlement figure is undisclosed. Don't let that get in the way of a good rant though.

I suppose if it was yourself, you'd have gone out and offered to help them board up your windows.

No not at all but it simply wouldn't have entered my head to look for compo either!
If they didn't get their outrageous figure then good!

Pretty sure I would have told them to feck right off as soon as I realised what was happening, but yes.. if my property was unduly damaged, or my wife and child traumatised thinking that people were trying to break in and cause harm to them then I would expect some form of compensation. Why shouldn't I? If you caused damage to something owned by the council you can be sure as hell they'd be sending you a bill for it.

I agree that the amount they were looking for was excessive... that's probably down to 'advice' they took from a solicitor though.
