So I've been on E188 Job Seekers Benefit since last October and am now after getting set up with a two day week. It's E250 for two long days (about 18hrs).

My question is i) what happens next, do I go to the social welfare office right away (just started yesterday) and tell them or do I wait to get a payslip or something from my new employer and then just get have things back-dated or something?? and also as it's a set two day week (thurs and fri one week, mon, tues the next, thurs-fri, mon-tues) do I need to do the casual X O dockets I've heard about?

I've looked through lots of the posts here but not having much luck so apologies if I've missed an obvious set of answers.

    Thanks in advance.

You need to call into your sw office asap and let them know that you are after starting work. You will be issued with forms for your employer to fill out and also dockets... as you are on jsb you wont need to provide payslips. You will only have to provide payslips for means assessment if you are on jsa.
BTW congrats on getting a job.

Thanks so much for the response.

Due to my timetable of work (monday and tuesday), I'll only get into the SW office on Wednesday and then won't be in work for 8 days again to get them signed but I'll try call in before that and get it all signed off.

If it's a set €250 a week and 2 set days will I still be entitled to something (would struggle to get by on just €250, even though I did make do with €188 for last wee while) and will I have to fill out a docket every week do you think?

U will need t fill one every week. I done it myself for a while. Just watch tho coz the forms are wed-tue so if u fill out thur fri mon tue on some dockets some weeks u will get nothing for that week. U can send 3/4 weeks in at a time.

As kelledy said it depends on how the days link to each other. If its a case that you arent getting anything on jsb due to the linking then get them to register a claim for jobseekers allowance and be means tested as there isnt any linking of days on jsa.

As you are JSB you will loose 1/5th of your €188 per day worked, So €37.60 per day worked. The week for JB runs from Thursday to Wednesday, so if you mark off 2 O's on a weekly docket you will get €112.80 per week. You should only need to call into the office and sign a new signing card and they will give you the casual dockets. As you are on JSB what you earn oer day will not be taken into account.
You will be paid in arrears by cheque, so be aware that you may have to wait 2 weeks for your next payment once you change over. Cheques issue on a Friday and you should receive them in th epost on a Tuesday, except on a Bank Holiday week it will be Wednesday.
