    kells bay is nice

some castles and ancient monuments near cahersiveen valentia island has a cliff walk which is supposed to be good you will get good views of skellig.

Derrynane beach is nice very rugged around there

as you go back into kenmare bay it gets more and more like a temperate rainforest

    HI Guys

Thank you very much for information, I did some research during weekend and I'm planning to see:

Ballybunion Beach - Castle and cliffs
Brandon bay to make panoramic photo
    Killarney National Park
    Killaha - ruined abbey
    Valentia Island

I think highest mountain will wait until next time. As I know I need at least 8h for Carrantuohill

    Regards
    Karol

You are MILES off the Ring of Kerry with those trips.

Brandon is lovely. Ballybunion is...well I wouldn't have it in the top beaches in Kerry, you are going way out of your way to see a town that has slot machines and can be a bit grim.

    Where is this even located?

Would you not go to Muckross Abbey, it's famous for a reason! There is a complete cloisters there, information etc. etc.

Go for the obvious places, there is a reason everyone goes there and noone goes to Ballybunion when they are in Killarney. Stop at Kells, Waterville, Pass of Coomakista, Valentia, Sneem, Molls Gap, Kenmare, spend hours around Killarney taking pics of the world famous Lakes of Killarney, all the interesting places liek Muckross Abbey, Torc Waterfall, Ross Castle, Muckross House etc. etc.

If you're gonna go miles off the ring, see Slea Head and Dingle and the Brandon area.

    Hi Conor74
Thank you for your post. I'm going there only for weekend so your tips are very valuable. I will verify my goals with that you described.

Thank you very much again :)

Oh if only for a weekend, don't even consider Ballybunion. It will take up a few hours of your time to see a few used nappies on a cold wet beach with an empty town beside it. Even something wonderful like Slea Head/Dingle might be lot to take in, I'd say spend one day around Killarney, see the lakes, maybe drive out to the Gap of Dunloe, pop into Muckross Abbey, Muckross House, look at Torc Waterfall, a quick visit to the Cathedral and around the town. And then one full day for the Ring of Kerry, but will be an early start to see the main sights - stopping at Waterville, drive out to Valentia and see the Geokaun cliffs, the slate quarry and Knightstown, stop at Coomakista (lovely view out over the Atlantic), stop at the villages of Waterville and Sneem, drop into the ancient fort at Staigue (Castlecove) and spend an hour or so walking around Kenmare with its restaurants and art galleries. Try and be back on the road between Kenmare and Killarney during daylight, you'll be driving through the National Park with wonderful viewpoints like Molls Gap and Ladies View.

Can only see the Killarney plan, can't see the other. You might want to add Ross Castle to that list too.

I'm following your thread. I'm thinking of taking a spin on the bike one weekend to do the ring.

You've got the wrong place! That's Molls Gap, looking down into the Black Valley and also down the Kenmare Road. The view from Ladies View is...
