Is it possible to get an SNA for a 3 year old diagnosed with Aspergers and hoping to start Pre-school. Child very clumsy, poor communication skills and poor fine motor skills, gets frustrated easily.

Lily you will have to speak to the pre-school in question about it. Have you applied for DCA or Carers Allowance for you child?

Hi, thanks for that, I didn't make myself clear, I'm doing a college assignment on Special Needs in Early Childhood Care and Education and Aspergers is my chosen disability as I has fostered a 3 year old boy with aspergers for 3 months until his mom could cope. He was not in pre school at the time.I have found lots of material for primary school children but not for pre school and thats where my interest lie

It very much depends on the area the child lives - there is no national system for funding for preschool assistants. The Early Intervention service that i work in is able to provide a small number of hours per week for children.

Thanks for the info. It will help me build a picture to better understand as I have to build a case study first.

This isn't really a State Benefits issue, moving thread to Primary & Pre School where you may get more help.

    Hi,

a child with a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder is usually assigned a school place by the SENO. There are often preschool places in ASD units but if there is no placement available they would get funding under the home tuition grant which could be used to employ a suitable person to work with the child at home and/or accompany them to preschool. Otherwise, parents often employ someone privately.

    Hope that helps!
