J1 Newport beach 2013

    Hey there guys and gals! Me and another lad are heading out to Newport Beach in Cali on a J1 there was meant to be a good group of us going but was whittled down to just me and him!

    Just wondering has anyone been there before and offer any feed back in accomodation, jobs and maybe how much suncream should a red head wear out there??:P

    Hey guys.. so three of us are heading to Newport beach this summer and are also looking for people to share with
    One of us went to Huntington beach last year and she is also a red head she recommends factor 50 as it is a sauna haha

    Newport is awesome and its close to hungtington and theres jobs there or in Balboa which is just a 20 min walk from Newport.
    In Huntington people really didn't want to lease to irish students..they basically had the rental terms set up so that you had to be from america, living there for some time or have relatives to co sign the lease (from the same state)
    pretty much anyone we know who did get somewhere to stay in huntington lived quite a distance from the beach (fountain valley really)

    she moved to newport and got somewhere to stay the day she arrived its more expensive the closer you are to beach but no problem getting one :)

    Ah factor fifty it is so! Shame will not get my tan!

    Thats class that newport is more open to irish people anyway heard other reports of huntington being anti irish regarding housing!

    Ah we are heading out around the third of June as we are both students in maynooth so our exams only end around the 26th! what about ye :)?

    We are flying out on the second of June :). There's three of us, all girls (21/22). Would yous be up for sharing as houses and apartments can be quite expensive to rent down by the beach ?

    Hey there are 4 of us thinking of heading to Newport this summer too :) does anyone have much info on jobs, accommodation etc? i have been trying to find groups/forums discussing previous years but there seems to be very little on it.
