Hope somebody can advise because wife has her eyes set on expensive replacement !!

Freezer still working away no problems but fridge has stopped. Lights are on but there's nobody home. Is not cooling but if I feel the back of the fridge from the inside the top 2 inches are cool, not cold.

Rang repairman. He advised to swicth off for 48 hours and see if there is a blockage of ice which will melt. If this doesn't work he says that it will need to be regassed and in this case I would be better off buying a new one ?

Any advice on this advice ??

Also worth mentioning that the fridge had a big build up of ice approx 2 months ago. Never happened before and once melted it never happened again.

had the same problem, but it was under warranty. turned out to be the fan, bringing the cold air up from the freezer. guy had it changed in around 20 mins(reckoned it was a common fault) , if your fan isn't kicking in, could be the same problem.

It could be the fan in freezer
.if there is an automatic defrost function the defrost heater might not be working and you could have a build up of ice in freezer stopping the fridge from cooling.

And I think this could be the problem.

Freezer is a frost free freezer. Works perfectly fine and can't say that I've ever seen a build up of frost. I also can't say that I can see the fan working. Have tried a few times over the past few days to open the door quick and look and see if the fan turning but I've never seen it turning.

Should it be turning all the time? If it is turning is it a case of it stops straight away when the door opens or should it stop slowly ?

Determined to fix this bloody thing !!

if it has a pushbutton switch that activates the light just push it in when the door is open, it should bring on the fan assuming the fan blades are not clogged up with ice or its windings are open circuit

See if fan will turn by hand.

    Fan is definitely turning.

Had the plug out for 2+ days.

Plugged back in, compressor made a squeaky noise for about 1 minute and the noise stopped. 3 hours later and the compressor is warm / hot and working away.

Fan in freezer is turning away. Managed to get the door open and see the fan spinning happily away. Freezer is nice and cold, working away nicely.

Problem is the same in the fridge. Top 2 inches are cool, not cold. A few drops of moisture on the top 2 inches if that adds and more clues.

Am I looking at replacing the thermostat or do I need to get it regassed ?!?!

Wife is not happy using the camping cooler box for 1 week now. Not happy at all but I won't give in. Even her wrath won't beat me.

HELPPPPPPPPPPP ! C'mon lads, help me beat this ba&tard.

Ok from what i can see this is controlled electronically and not by thermostat.the sensors are not replacable.they are foamed in .the control board would have to be replaced.it could also be a gas prob.you would really need to call elextrolux and get a quote to fix or see if its not worth the fix if they will still charge for call out.

hi did you get this fixed as I'm having the same problem and am thinking about replacing the sensor in the fridge it comes in a kit as the original is not replaceable, this fridge apparently doesn't cool from the freezer but has it's own evaporator tube many thanks

help, about 2 weeks ago pool of water appeared seeming to be coming from fridge freezer. wiped it up cleared the hole in the fridge, and it gave a little hum but never burst into full song,
I now find my freezer working well, and I did clear a lot of ice out of it today, it was fairly bad. It continues to freeze ok, but the fridge is only keeping cool from the freezer I think. I have it on the highest setting Its a Bosch and it must be 8 years old or thereabouts. If I call out someone to look at it and if the gas needs replacing will it be very expensive, am I better to cut my loss and buy a new fridge freezer.
Many thanks for any help I can get

Give it a full manual defrost with doors doors open for at least 24 hours and see how you get on.

Thanks, but it is full, and I do feel that it is not going to work. The possibility of getting someone in to look at it now is fairly faint, So I might just toddle along and buy a new one, sales on. Not sure of the best make or model. but we shall see. Thanks again for the advice.
