    Why not two? One for you and the array of different guns you could have, the other for your servants to carry any prey home!!

    Looked like a 6 X stuck there for a good while. No matter how many wheels or how big an engine, if the mud is too deep you're stuck.

    I take it the Landrover is a modification job and the G Wagen is a Puch factory job ?

    If you have to worry about costs for fuel,tyres or parts and you have a G wagon of any kind..You are driving the wrong car!:D

    Great machine,I had a 1984 300 G.Go thru over and up anything.But OMG the price for parts.:eek::eek:

    You must have given it some abuse if it needed parts with any sort of regularity :)....If money ever allows I'd like an older G300TD, I reckon they leave Landrovers for dust any time.

    Not quite...It was a 1984 model in 2001 when I bought it and it had about as much regular maintenence done to it by previous owners as the Titanic had had after its bump into the iceberg!:pac:

    What they had done was total cowboy workmanship.Especially in the front axle wheel bearing hub[ G wagons weakness].You need a special tool to do the bearings properly to get a correct torque setting.They had gone and belted the locking nut in with a hammer& chisel to try and take the play out of the bearings and buggered up the hub and flange.
    About a grands worth of replacement parts,towing fees from Dublin,and mechanics bills!:mad:
    And I was restoring it as well,until some gobdaw broadsided me in a 10 ton gravel truck outside my front gate.I survived and in fact had it been anything else than a G wagon I proably wouldnt be typing this.Lost intrest in the project then and passed it on as it never felt 100% "right" after the smack. Eventhough the body damage was all in pretty minor and the chassis was sound.
    They certainly are a lot better machines than a Landrover,and are over engineered for longevity.But TBH their price doesnt justify their engineering anymore.You could up engineer a Jap machine or LR with air diff locks ,stronger springs,shocks,tyres etc and still have diesel money left over than trying to buy a very good 2nd hand G wagon.

    In fact you could proably buy a H1 Hummer cheaper now than the current 463 "cayenne Killer" G wagon. Thats unless you are a rock star or deal in drugs or are an oil sheikh.They are about the only people who can afford the G's these days.:(

    No, I don't do off roading as such. I take the pick up ( 2001 B2500 Mazda ) down rutted lanes in bogs and into muddy stubble fields quite regularly but I don't take it on off roading tracks etc etc... . If I ever want to go and do some off road track driving I'll happily drive the dung out of a yoke owned by some adventure center or other. Mazda parts don't come cheap either :)
