put in on your house insurance maybe ?

what type of cover do you want ? any insurance company will be glad to take your money (they have so many clauses now that you simply cant claim anyway)

be aware that if you didn't do absolutely everything to prevent it being stolen (ie. if you left it on a kitchen table and thief spotted it through the window ...you may not get paid out)

    It's rented house.

How do insurance company's know where you left it ?

I would want cover that covers
    stolen
    damaged
    accidental damage
    water damage

I look after it.I only got it 2 weeks ago, and i have it with me all the time.

In the house there are 2 dogs and front and back security lights. there's a gate and also barb wire on the back walls.

it's more the fear of dropping it and having it covered.

You can get contents insurance on rented accommodation that includes accidental damage and lets you insure items like tablets, bikes, laptops etc out of the house.

You can also specify specific items for cover. I did this when I bought my PowerMac G5 which wasn't cheap !! Cost a few extra quid to cover though.

How much would it be, roughly to insure a MacBook Pro on the house insurance?

I think at the time I paid an extra 50 euro for cover on my computer and some other items including HiFi equipment. Best to call your insurer and find out though.

My house insurer covers items that do not leave the house, ie my iMac up to 10% of the total contents cover price (easily covers the price of an iMac). If it is a Macbook you will have to list it in the Specified Items section and this covers it outside the home too.
