Stress holding me back

Im in a decent job. it has some amount of pressure, but my boss for the most part is pretty good at not overallocating work.

Its a consultancy role so there is a certain amount of pressure with going to client sites, needing to know what you are talking about etc.

For the last 12 months ive been growing into the role, and still am, but the more responsibility i get take, the less i seem to be able for.

Its things like exended projects that get on top of me, e.g i have a 3 week project. it will take 3 weeks, and is doable, but i just see the mountain of work and it looks huge. I then end up going into avoidance mode, surfing the web etc and then im late with my work or its not of the quality i would like.

I know im able for this job, but im struggling to keep above the stress. Ive done CBT before for stress so im using my usual techniques to work through this but they are not wroking as well as they used to.

I dont want to say its a case the job is too much for me, i dont think it is. but i dont want to rely so much on my boss and team mates, and i want to be able to do a good days work without being a big bag of nerves the whole way through.

As ive been to CBT and those techniques are not helping, are there other avenues i should explore?

    Thanks for any help.

Break the huge mountain of work down into small easily doable chunks. Then methodically work through the chunks one at a time. Just focus on the chunk you are dealing with at the time, and you won't feel overwhelmed.

The work is the responsibility of your team and your manager as well, not yours alone. If they are carrying you because you are avoiding your work, then you need to address that. But relying on your manager and team mates is fine, if you need to when you are pulling your weight.
