Degree in Latin/English

I am applying for a job abroad and my recruiter will only accept a copy of my degree in English, (as you know they are issued in Latin.) My recruiter said that it's possible to get the university to write a headed letter that is essentially a translation of the contents of the parchment, that previous Irish applicants have done this no problem.

However when I contacted NUI about it I was told my only option is to re order my parchment in English. It would be a shame to have to spend €50 when I have the original degree ready to go, has anybody here managed to get around this? Thanks in advance!

Would they accept a copy of your results / credit statment showing your modules completed and grades etc? Pretty sure you can order an official, sealed version of this for cheaper. It's the same thing really, shows you completed the degree and gives a lot more information than the actual degree document does it's self.

On a side note, do employers generally request this? I've lots of friends who've told me after completing their degree and having it on their CV, when they get a job, employers never even check / request a copy!! :D

It's for a job teaching English abroad. They insist on a sealed and stamped copy of your transcripts and a notarized copy of your actual degree parchment. It's a right pain tbh. I doubt any employer in this country would expect it.

Well, if they are requesting a copy of your transcript, it seems a bit retarded that they wont accept your original degree document as it's printed...

"We see here from your transcript all of your results and you completed your degree, but what is this degree document signed and stamped by the university, can we get that in Engrish (sic)....it may be fake..."

    The mind baffles...

Maybe explain the cost to them and tell them you've no problem having it re-issued at their expense? Or should your application be succesful, be refunded?
