I am looking to hire a HD camera for a night to record an event for about 3 hours with commentary feed being passed through it as well

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a camera/and camera person for the night and roughly how much this would cost

    thanks

    Paddy

What kind of event is it? Will it need low light capability??

conns cameras and camerakit.ie hire out video equipment

if it's an indoor event like a gym or something you'll need a cam that's got very good low light capability, probably looking at something like a Sony PMW EX1, you might need a tripod too and if the venue is very dark some lights
    could be expensive!

What kind of even it is and what do you plan to do with the footage afterwards? The operator will have the footage on cards after and it will need to be transferred to a portable hard drive, after that you'll need to import and convert to use it in an editing programme - if you need the same person to do all this and get it onto DVD the cost adds up, it can be very time consuming.

About 300-500 euro will get you a professional cameraman who will provide his own gear.

But you might be able to bargain someone down.

Remember if you want an event covered properly you might need more than one camera.
