I have 4 grand sitting in my CU account and would like to put it to use. I can't do anything long term as I need the money in August/September.

Would Prize Bonds be a decent option? Any ideas?

    thanks

    Take it or leave it.
If you want to take a small risk of 60 euros for a profit of a few hundred.
Open an account with with a forex broker and buy some gold and leverage yourself 2:1 with a stop loss at 1580 . gold looks to be heading to 1650
also apple is a good buy with a stop loss at 443

Saw on Newsnight the other night that gold is starting to dip after years of being on the rise.

Sell low and buy high. Oldest trick in the book.

Maybe I've been staring at my computer screen for too long but is it not better for an investor to buy low and sell high.

You asked me to explain my question marks - I did. You replied with an emoticon and edited your post to replace it with the same curve you used before. At least explain why I'm wrong because I would like to invest similar to the OP.

    Don't you understand the picture?
When the public get involved and buy, it's usually at tops. They then sell at bottoms.

To be fair - I know nothing about shares... but I don't think it was an instruction it was warning, made in a roundabout way, but illustrated very simply in the diagram posted after it. That was my reading of it.

I think the poster was trying to say - be careful not to follow advice on forums and invest money in shares that you say you will need in short-term future.

    This is crazy advice.

I think rabo offer the best deposit rates at the moment, over that time frame that's all you can really look at. Either that or prizebonds.
