Infection after molar extraction

I got a molar out on friday last 13/3/13 and went back to dentist after no let on pain. He said the socket got infected.
I'm on my 2nd dose of amoxcillen,2 solaphadine and diclac and using cordosyl mouth wash.
Anyway the reason i'm posting is i've noticed that food is always lodged in the the socket and a friend told me that she used a syringe like object the last time she got a tooth out and flushed out the socket with mouth wash.
As her dentist gave her one i looked over the internet i cant see to get one.
Would the food lodgement slow the recovery and does anyone know where i would get one of these.
I've tried swishing hot salty water and the cordosyl and they dont dis lodge the food. There is also a bit of pus in the socket.
If you've read this far thanks for reading.

i'd never give a patient a syringe to wash out a socket themselves. the reason it's painful is because the clot has dislodged and the highly innervated bone is exposed, as well as the remnants of the infection that caused you to lose the tooth in the first place. if you start washing it out, there's a good chance you'll dislodge anything that's meant to stay there.
gently mouth rinsing with warm salty water should be enough to keep debris out of it. you may be mixing up food with fibrin, the yellowish stuff that appears at the start of healing.
did your dentist not put a dressing into the socket?

It seems to be food particles but this is only my second tooth out so i'm in no way an expert. The dentist said there was a small amount of pus in it.
He gave me nothing at all. Today he just looked at it and said i had an infection and wrote out a prescription ammoxcillon 500mg which he gave me on friday.
He didnt give me any gauze etc on the day either. Just packed it straight after taking it out and then took out the packing 5 mins later. That was it.
Is warm water better than cordysol or should i do both. Would the gum start healing after 5 days.

I have a similar scenario, I had an upper molar (2) removed 11 days ago now. I wanted the number 1 beside it taken out also but the dentist asked me to allow her to put a temporary filling in it to see if the pain would subside. It took about 15 minutes of levering and pulling and quite an amount of pressure was put on my lower gums and teeth by the levering motions while the dentist was trying to remove the tooth. Anyway, the dentist did not put any dressing or gause into the hole after removal just stuck in the temp filling in the tooth, got me to rinse and left me off.

My problem is that while I can feel the hole in my gum closing, I am in constant pain. I can not lie on that side, I cant keep sunglasses on my ear or keep an ear plug in my ear due to the pain. It keeps me awake at night and I am swallowing Solpadol tablets at night to try and sleep. The pain now is worse than before I went to the dentist in the first place. It is also sore along my bottom jaw too.

I am calling them in the morning to get it checked ASAP. I only left it this long as I thought the pain would naturally subside. Could it be normal when such a tooth is taken out for it to be still as sore 11 days later.
