Insurance for very low annual milage?

I wonder does any insurance co. have a deal for people who do a very few miles per annum? My policy is due and I did probably less than 3k km last year. I'm a named driver on another car in the family we use for longer trips. We get a slight benefit having both cars insured with the same company, and I already get a small reduction for low mileage. Thanks for any ideas.

Only policy I ever heard of, and granted it was a trial, was a GPS unit fitted to the car. Clocked mileage and speed, and applied a discount. The problem with a low mileage exception is (normally) you need someway of proving it and they need some way of verifying it. No discount in the world would warrant fitting a GPS tracker in my eyes.

I don't much fancy a GPS unit in the car all right, even though a lot of people are being tracked via their mobile phone anyway. My annual NCT has a record of the mileage, though I suppose that's not actual proof. It's a pity my car is elderly but not vintage/classic.

whats the car and your age? I'm 25 driving a 03 mondeo 2.0 diesel and can get 3rd party insurance for €350 with FBD but that's just a disc in the window no perks

Low annual mileage = higher risk for insurers in general

How on earth do they figure low mileage is a higher risk? The person is not getting much practice maybe, but still...
Well they are only asking for €325 this year so I can't complain very much, but less on insurance would mean more petrol in the tank. Losing some perks would bring the cost down a bit, but it's probably not worth it.

Care to elaborate on your conspiracy?

    You've answered your own question.

Conspiracy?. I'm not saying motor insurance companies are tracking people, but folks who have smartphones with location services turned on are leaving a trail. Handy if you lose your phone, though. It applies to any phone really, but to a lesser extent.
