Are there any pitfalls to me booking flights to Majorca on a single trip with Ryanair and then booking a seperate flight back with Aer lingus?

Anything to watch out for in booking two seperate airlines ?

    TIA

    Nope, done it before myself.
You basically book 2 1-way trips.
Only thing you have to watch out for is that you have the dates right. With a return ticket you ll get a warning if you mess up.

How d'ya mean "get a warning" if I mess up"?

I was thinking booking Ryanair out and AL back as two seperate bookings completely

Don't bother with priority boarding from Dublin to Majorca. Just get to the gate early.

Everybody ends up on the same buses to the plane anyways!

Also if you pay for a bag, standard ryanair bag is 15kg , standard aerlingus is 20kg.

What i meant, if you select an impossible trip with a return ticket (leaving 21-5-2013; coming back 12-4-2013 for example) web sites do give you a warning.

With 2 single trips on separate websites, that warning will never exist.

When you book the above dates as 2 separate tickets, it will just go through.

To cut it short, write down the details before you book them and make sure you have them right. Administration fees are painful to pay if you mess up.

Its no problem at all. I often do it going to London.
You're simply using two different companies to provide a service.
Just like buying your bread in one shop and your butter in another.

The only thing to watch in some cases is the currency differences on the price of flights when travelling outside the Eurozone, but in your case that doesn't arise.

    +1

i have done it many times. you can make great and significant savings shopping around and booking this way.. no real pitfalls to speak of just familiarise yourself with the different t&c's of each airline as well as terminals and what not.

 We took this flight with RA last October and were the only ones with priority boarding. Turned up to find a massive queue which we skipped completely. Boarded in section/area D so walked straight onto plane, no bus. Was a very happy camper. The same on the return flight.

Is this still the case though?
