Title says it all. 4-5k to spend. Looking for 1.4-1.6 petrol or up to 2l diesel. Open to any car type/year but milage is a consideration.

Was thinking about a 03 or 04 Audi A4 or a Ford Mondeo. I'm not very knowledgeable about cars so would appreciate some suggestions.

    Thanks!

The easiest way to go about it is to browse donedeal filtered like this and similar sites like carzone/adverts.
Then post up links to cars you like for us to give opinions on.

What sort of mileage are you currently doing op?

    What's your mileage per year?

Current milage is less than 10k per year. Most of my driving is long distance however so I want something with a little bit of power and that's comfortable. Most attractive so far is the Audi A4 or A6 or a Mazda 6.

Given the current price of fuel however these might not be the best options except for the diesel A4

I know the cars you have mentioned are saloons but would an Opel Astra H be of any interest to you? I know a very nice one in your price range and although it's 1.8 which again goes against your engine size criteria, isn't too much different to a 1.6 tax wise.

THIS is the car I'm talking about, not mine but it belongs to a friend.

I would be interested in something along those lines alright but I don't have the money right now. I'm currently looking at getting a loan but it will probably be another month or so before I actively start looking. If it's still available then I would take a look at it.
