    Hi all,

I've recently applied for my European Health Insurance Card and it got me thinking. Is there other things like this that every Irish person should really apply for? What are those benefits that everyone can get but we just don't know about?

IMHO everybodyshould apply for a Medical Card/GP Visit card if their finding things a bit tough and/or a family member is enduring a bit of bad health. You may think your outside the means test, but they will allow for mortgage or rent, home insurance , travelling to work, home improvement loans, child care costs at the very least and will take into account medical conditions so well worth a try.

I am a UK National. Is it true I can apply for a medical card on that basis rather than undergoing a means test? I have one anyway, but was wondering as someone told me that might be the case.
