Interference from Divis?

I'm in Omagh and get my Freeview from Brougher Mountain. For the past few days the services on channel 27 (Film 4, etc.) have been missing for large periods of time - my Sony TV indicates no, or very poor, signal. The services on channel 21 (ITV3, etc.) are also affected though, so far, to a lesser extent. Prior to this everything was fine.

Could the cause be interference from Divis?

If so, is there anything that can be done?

Interference from Divis would seem a likely cause of your problem. Try your postcode in the coverage checker here: http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/#, ticking the 'detailed view' box. Omagh postcodes don't return great results for the commercial channels.

The only way to try beating this, is to have your aerial system spec'd & positioned to favour the wanted signal as much as possible: maybe in a location shielded from Divis, not necessarily for the strongest possible signal from Brougher.

Maybe not Divis interference after all. Divis off tonight and still having problems. AND, BBC mux intermittent signal now too.

Yeah, I suppose if it was Divis, you would have been expecting it to have caused trouble from the start, but then again, maybe Brougher isn't at its best either atm.

Have you given your system a bit of a once over? Eliminate something simple like a dodgy connection?

Haven't done that yet. Will do later when I get a chance. If improvement, will report back. Thanks for taking an interest.

Checked connections. No joy. Incidentally, is it usual to see tiny little sparks when connecting the aerial plug to the recorder box?

Interference comes and goes. FilmFour, etc. (channel 27, 2kW) and BBC1, etc. (channel 28, 20 kW) channels mainly affected. Mysterious.
