I had under floor heating installed in our bathroom a bit over a month go
The floor has plywood on the base with tiles on top and davi heating mats in between
We have a davi digital control for the floor
When the floor is set to heat up only some of the tiles are getting warm
When we had the work done the installer said not to use the heated floor for 2 weeks which I did

I got the installer back and he said that the reason that all the tiles are not heating up is that the tile cement is still wet and it needs to dry and it could take another few weeks

This didn't sound right so just wondering if anyone knows if this is right

I thought tile adhesive only takes a few hours to dry

The bathroom has a wet room installed and there is also a membrane on the floor - forgot to mention that

think he may have installed too small a mat

i have installed and operated these within a week and you should have heat evenly spread on most areas

Cheers meercat ill get them back to have a look again, the company is insured so I should be covered if they need to lift the tiles and put more heat mat down

you hardly have the original box that it came in
this will have the size and total wattage of the mat

turn your mat on and try and identify the warm areas of the tile
this may indicate the size of the mat

an electrician with a clip on ampmeter can do this too

Could be a number of reasons but I’d say the Devimat was too small, now before you go giving out to the installer it may not be his fault, Devimats come in set sizes and installers always have to undersize as the elements cannot be cut, in saying that if the area left out was say larger than 1m2 then its probably was sized wrong. By the way, I don’t represent Devi, I just used to work there when I opened my boards account.

Well if some tiles aren’t heating while others are then the heating element isn’t underneath them, doesn’t mean it’s not working right, just means there was probably not enough element to cover it and no it’s not going to change. Now as I said, it might not be the installers fault, for example, if you have a floor area of say 0.75m2, the nearest Devimat to that(rounding down) would be a 0.5m2, which means aprox 30% can’t be covered.
