HBO has released a first trailer for Chris O'Dowd's new comedy Family Tree.
The IT Crowd actor has teamed with This Is Spinal Tap's Christopher Guest for the eight-part first season.
[Filmed in both the UK and LA, Family Tree stars O'Dowd as Tom Chadwick, a 30-year-old who embarks on a journey of self-discovery and meets a number of eccentric characters from his family's past.
Fred Willard (Anchorman) and Tom Bennett (PhoneShop) will also appear in the improvised sitcom, which will air on BBC Two in the UK.
Family Tree will premiere in the US in May.

Christ.. is that Nina Conti with that stupid goddamn monkey 22 seconds in?

Were they just handing out parts to anyone and everyone?

Could be great, could be another transatlantic 'works better on paper than on the screen' mashup like Todd Margaret.

    Certainly worth a look.

Also, Nina and Monkey are brilliant, I can't think of any show which wouldn't be better for their inclusion :P

I thought it was good, but could have been a lot better (given the talent involved)

Starting this weekend, I really love the look of it.
Christopher Guest's comedic touch is always a winner. :)

This has started on HBO, no sign of it on the BBC yet.

I quite liked the first episode. Understated but has potential. Needs more Christopher Guest on screen, though.

    nina f**ing Conti

She ruins the series. Apart from her it's just okay.

She really does split the vote doesn't she? :D What will she do when the monkey dies?

It was a perfectly grand opening.

Quite liked it, gentle enough start, don't even mind the monkey.

I can't make up my mind about this. I like him, I like her and the monkey (I really do), but I can't stand his 'mate' and the constant pratfalls. I mean this week, he was a right pain in the rear. And Christopher Guest is utterly wasted, and the 'old' un-pc comedies that he watches, perhaps there's a reason for it...
    That bit with the
    monkey and the boxing glove
    was lovely.

That's Michael McKean, not Christopher Guest

Of course, thank you. The last couple of episodes featured Guest, very enjoyable too.
Some other familiar faces too from previous Guest outings.
