Survey regarding travelling with medicine requiring refrigeration

    Hi all,

My name is Shane Taylor and I am a 4th year student studying Commerce in University College Cork, Ireland. As part of an Entrepreneurship module we have to devise a business plan centred on a business that we anticipate would be profitable.

Our group has decided to focus on travel kits for medication that require refrigeration, (e.g humira, enbrel etc) an idea which arose due to personal connections with people suffering from arthritis. We surveyed local pharmacies and people living with arthritis to see if they had access to, or knowledge of, travel kits for their medication. We found that a vast majority of people were not aware of any products for this purpose and some had resorted to using homemade ice-packs to keep their medication cool on their travels! Our initial idea was to try and invent a travel kit for this purpose.

However after some web-based research we found a company that manufactures travel kits for medications such as humira and enbrel that keep the medication cool for up to 36 hours. We have contacted the company and they are interested in supplying to Ireland as they have a base in the UK that could easily ship the product. We now need to anticipate product demand.

Therefore we have composed a survey and would really appreciate if you could take a couple of minutes to complete it, as we are having trouble attracting a significant number of respondents.

    Here is the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1liH...KFymU/viewform

If you know of anyone else that would be eligible to complete the survey please forward it onto them too!:P

You can pm me if you have any questions or queries. Thanks!

    Kind regards,
    Shane:)

We got a large pouch from these guys : http://www.friouk.com/ to store my daughter's insulin while travelling to France a few weeks ago. It worked very well (you have to keep re-immersing it in water every 45 hours or so).

We ordered it from that site, but used a Parcel Motel address so only paid £3 shipping, instead of the £15 they charge to ship to Ireland.

When I started on simponi, I was given a travel pouch with a freezer pack by simponi.

Maybe you should ask if they will supply one for you.

Its neat, but its no better than any other insulated pouch with a freezer pack in it.

Simponi must be stored between 2 and 8 degrees, as far as I know all the Frio packs are room temp of 18 to 25 degrees :( I tried simponi they told me they dont give them out any more! Thanks everyone

There may be variation from country to country according to rules laid down by the authorities, but in Ireland, there are two classes of temperature storage rules for medications: less than 25 degC, and 2-8degC.

In other words, everything that requires refrigeration must be stored between 2 and 8.
