    Folks, your advise please...

Flying to BCN tomorrow with the girlfriend for a few days and was wondering what the Aer Lingus lounge is like in T2 as regards value. I understand its 25 euros per head entry and that everything after is complimentary. The everything after is basicially what I am trying to find out about..

I am basicially wondering what the set up is like as I cannot find too many of the fine details online. We'd be getting up there grand and early so prob looking for some soup , sandwiches, snacks that kind of thing before the flight followed by some adult beverages. etc. any info or opinions greatfully received....

IMHO, compared to other lounges that I've visited it's above average. I'm not sure if it's worth paying for (I can use it for free). There's the usual drinks (beer, white/red wine, soft drinks, spirits) - unlimited! - and there's a selection of snacks (mostly prepacked). At meal times they bring out sandwiches (decent enough) and soup. Tea/coffee etc. Very quiet and clean.

For €25 a head you can probably get some really decent food in one of the airport restaurants and it'll be equally as clean and quiet! Unless you are planning to guzzle a half bottle of whiskey or something in which case it's worth it :)

The lounge is great if you've just arrived from the states and are travelling onwards to the UK or something - showers, away from the crowds etc.

From what I've heard, I wouldn't think it's worth it just for the short hop to Barcelona. You'll find everything you've mentioned there, no hot food though which is a big negative for it.

The lounge becomes very attractive at the height of the summer when there are lots of people milling about, I haven't found airside at T2 to be terribly comfortable.

The Etihad lounge on the other hand...

OP mentions that he is getting there early. Well the lounge only opens at 5.20.......looking at EI.com I assume you are on the 0650 departure. So if you are in right away at 0520, then you will have to leave at 0615-20 to walk to your flight.

Depends really on what ye think, not being familiar with the lounge myself......I assume at that time it would be busy with all the early flights......E50 for 2 of ye for an hour in the lounge?

Not worth it unless youre there for a few hours and plan on necking the bar, and using all the facilities.

Thanks folks, I don't think either of us will be necking the bar but I had thought about half inching a couple of bottles of Baileys on the way out (joke for any EI people tuning in ). Ohh and sorry Bessarion when I said early I meant in relative time to out flight departure which is at 17.50 :) Prob see how busy it is around T2 and see if its worth it for peace and quiet and a bit of comfort. T2 can be uncomfortable alright I find at the busier times so we shall see....

Unless its free I would not bother with an airport lounge for a short European flight.

Long haul or transatlantic I will always try and get myself into a lounge. Especially from the USA to Europe. When I don't have lounge access for free, I will pay, Delta Sky Club Lounge is where I set my sights mainly. Its 50 dollars for a 24 hour pass. Seems expensive, but my wife and I would easily get through this in drink before a flight. Also my wife is a lunatic about flying, so a nice quite place to relax for a couple of hours away from the hustle and bustle of a busy terminal, really helps her nerves.

you serve yourself the drinks but they are from big bottles..so no half inching :P

btw OP you must purchase EI lounge access in advance. You cant pay on the day as you enter.

If you're in there 2-3hrs before departure you'd easily get the value out of your €25 in food and drink. 3/4 bottles of beer plus a sandwich and bring a soft drink and a bar with you and you're covered. You're getting the wifi; tv, papers and magazines, comfy seats and general quietness/ambience for nothing then!

    Not true.
I regularly pay for lounge access in Heathrow when I fly back from Asia/Australia and will be doing it again in April.

In previous years it was funny as because they have no change they charge you a flat fee of 20 or something. So it was actually cheaper than booking it!
