2006 Laguna Leaking Coolant....

As stated above my 1.6 petrol Renault Laguna as begun leaking coolant. As it was dripping down at the front on drivers side I traced it back to the top of the rad.
I only intend keeping the car for a few more months so don't want to spend a packet on it. Any suggestions for a quick fix?

is it leaking from the rad itself or one of the rubber pipes?

From the rad alright, only when the car stops after being run at normal running temperature. It stops after cooling down.

I tried Radweld and it does the job, especially with microscopic holes in the radiator as in your case. It's around 5 Euro in Halfords and should keep the car running for the few months you need; Remember to check the coolant level frequently (every second day or so), it only takes 20 seconds to do.

If you want a more permanent solution, you might ask around for somebody that might be able to actually weld the hole in the radiator shut - provided the hole is on a metallic part. Your own mechanic might be able to point you to the right professional; The operation shouldn't be too expensive (I had it done for as little as 10 euro in the past, but 40-50 might be more realistic).

I put the nova stop in the other day. Touch wood I think it's done the job.

I presume that you will mention the episode to the purchaser.

Your comment belongs to a different thread altogether. I don't appreciate your presumption. This has nothing to do with the rights and wrongs of selling a car. As far as I'm concerned when I'm finished with my car it'll be going to the scrap heap in the sky, hence the quick short term fix.
