We have to write a research paper "using contemporary examples"

I'm just wondering on what's expected. Does contemporary mean "happening at this moment in time" or in the last 20 years?

Sorry if this sounds obvious, just want to see what others think :o

Might be an idea to ask whoever set the assignment?

You really need to ask your instructor.
