Float valve/Ball cock issue.

    Hi there,

The spare toilet in a relative's house started giving trouble there recently (taking ages to fill). The water was dripping in, to the point where it could take half an hour to refill. I disconnected the inlet float valve from the mains pipe to check pressure and there was no problem with water coming in. So I figured the next time I was popping round their house I'd stop at homebase and pick up one of these http://reviews.homebase.co.uk/1494-en_gb/722155/reviews.htm and install it.

The toilet is a dual flush, and the problem now is that when you depress the lever to flush the toilet, it doesn't return back up. I suppose it was damaged when I was mucking about in the cistern.

I suppose we could just replace the flush valve with one of these http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=110&storeId=10151&partNumber=916524, but maybe I'm missing something, as I can't see any damage to the one that's in there?

Any advice would be great guys.
