Wilson sees them home with a superb unbeaten 72 off 102 balls.

I was watching it earlier but had to leave it at around 30 overs gone, it was looking a bit tense. Well, well played. Sounds like a good innings from Wilson.

It was looking shaky at 51-4, with Ireland apparently batting a man short )Alex Cusack picked up a hand injury according to the ICC stream). Good recovery and a great start to the qualification tournament.

    P W Pts
    Ireland 9 7 15
    Afghanistan 10 5 11
    Scotland 10 5 11
    Netherlands 8 5 10
    UAE 9 5 10
    Kenya 10 5 10
    Namibia 8 2 4
    Canada 10 1 3

Important win today, still have plenty of work to do but another win in the 2nd game would put Ireland in a strong position going into the Scotland and Netherlands games later in the year.

Yep win on Wed would leave us in a v strong position alright, would actually mean a N/R or 2 v Scotland or Netherlands wouldnt be such a bad thing

Nice jinxing by me, shortly after posting UAE lose both of a 60 run partnership and are now 144-7

UAE 196 all out. Should be doable, no stupidness please

Ireland 53-1 after 15 overs. Slow enough going, but thankfully just the one wicket gone

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,879 ✭✭✭D3PO

switched on for the Ireland innings. We look very comfortable. Wicket looks pretty flat to me though and its not taking any spin so Id have expected we would be scoring better.

That said Porterfield has batted lovely and has deserved his half centuary we will win this with ease from here. Those back to back boundaries shuld settle Niall in now.

133-3 for 15 overs to go.

    R/R is 3.80 with the Required R/R at 4.27

Should start to kick on with the run rate from here on in with wickets in hand

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,516 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Ports out for 77. KOB at the crease now

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,516 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    R/R slowing right down :(

Ireland are 153-4 after 41.0 overs.
Target is 197 in 50 overs.
Current run rate is 3.73; required rate = 4.89.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,516 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

12 runs in the 42nd over, looking much better now. Need one more decent over to close it out

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,516 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Ireland are 188-4 after 47.0 overs.
Target is 197 in 50 overs.
Current run rate is 4.00; required rate = 3.00.

Bit of a limp home, but a win is a win is a win.

Ireland win by 6 wickets (with 14 balls to spare)

    http://www.espncricinfo.com/wcl-championship-2011-13/engine/match/592264.html

UAE dropped a few catches which might have made it squeaky, but Ireland saw it home comfortably enough in the end.

Thought it was comfortable enough. UAE tightened up in the last 15 overs but Ireland knew they had enough in hand to get there without having to chase things.

I think if they needed to, Ireland could have chased down a bigger total.

Another good win, apart from the one off day against Kenya, Ireland have gone about their business very professionally. They should be able to do enough against Netherlands and Scotland to finish the job. I'd bet almost anything at least one of the Ireland v Scotland games will be rained off so one win out of two in Netherlands will probably see Ireland through. Either way they should seal the deal.

Hopefully Ireland can win this trophy out, with the intercontinental cup looking good and having won the last 20/20 qualification competition it would consolidate Ireland's position as the top associate side in all forms of the game.

Another great performance in UAE. It's not somewhere where the weather suits us so two tricky matches over with.

Good start to the T20 game today

    UAE currently 35-4 (7.4ovs)

Is it worth looking online for streams of the Ireland game (not looking for links!)?

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,516 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Target is 123

Ireland clipping along nicely 28-0 after 3 ovs

    No stream for this AFAIK

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,516 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Impressive stuff this Ireland 75-1 after 10 overs

Ports is 52no off 33 balls

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,516 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Handy enough win in the end with Ireland winning by 6 wickets

Porterfield 58 from 40 and Wilson 35no from 27 the batting stars. Murtagh with a brilliant 3 for 11 from 4 overs the stand out bowler
