Have I missed something?

UPC used to charge €66 for all 3 services with the 1st 4 months half price to new customers.
Sky introduced their "not so great triple package considering all the noise" after the initial excitement of the "opening offers" to boards members.
    This is €67.
UPC have now changed their package bundle to €50 for the 1st 6 months and full price €66 after that.
So pre Sky they were giving you a discount of €33 x 4 = €132.
They now are giving you a discount of €16 for 6 months = €96.
Have I missed something here or have UPC just increased their prices for new customers?

You should go to the UPC page here http://www.boards.ie/ttforum/1546 and ask them that yourself directly. or go to UPC.ie where they have a live chat section.

    No, am I missing something?
UPC have changed their pricing structure, what is the problem?
Were you just about to open a UPC account?

I just think it's a sneaky way of increasing their prices.

Companies are always changing there introductory offers. They have increased there Internet speeds so the package has actually increased.

I got the current speeds on the old introductory offer, so the package increased before the offer reduced.

Its still cheaper than Sky after the offer with far faster BB than Sky can offer, regardless.

A moot point if the old package was fast enough.

In which case it's a price increase for functionality you don't use.

While the price for higher speeds have gone down, the entry level price has gone up.

The higher the price relative to ADSL the more likely they may be to loose customers off the bottom. They don't have to worry about the the big spenders because cable can completely wipe ADSL.

I along with others, was waiting for a price battle between UPC and Sky.
Looks like Sky haven't bothered to take them on with their current prices and are happy enough being around the same price as UPC so no chance of a big push by either.
Yes UPC have better BroadBand but Sky better on TV,
One disappointed customer here especially after SKY's opening offer on broadband mainly to boards members!

It's a duopoly, with choice of provider mainly decided by where you live.

If you live in the styx you are stuck with SKY

If you live in an apartment or want lots of broadband then it's UPC.

The only battle is for the people in the suburbs who can get both a dish and cable and want more than ( Freesat + Saorview ) can give but don't want internet.

Hmm, didnt realise the new UPC offer is actually more expensive over the 12 months than the old, they got me there.

But getting the new sky broadband leaflet in thru the door on Friday morning directly led to me connecting to UPC by Friday evening. Because it prompted me to finally do something about getting real broadband in and comparing packages i.e. Sky v UPC.

Sky required an eircom line so that was out, and UPC were offering the 50euro deal for 1st months and that equates to what I was paying for my 02 dongle + 29euro sky basic.

So thanks Sky. One thing i noticed on the Sky literature was that they werent making any claims about broadband speed so thought that looked dodgy.
