    Hi All,

A few days ago i knocked my laptop while moving it and now the screen back light wont come on.

I connected the laptop to the tv and it works fine, i can also see stuff on the screen if i shine a light on to it.

Could this just be a lose connection or is it something more serious?

My laptop is a studio 1557

Generally that points to the screen inverter being dead. Could be a loose connection, might be worth opening it if you feel confident enough.

Generally speaking it's not a massive job, and should only take about 20/30 minutes.

No inverter in this model...it's a 15.6" LED screen...You could have damaged the bulb..these screens are cheap enough to replace...but all that supports most of these LED screen are two brackets each side which are easily bent...either way you need to replace the screen

Cheap enough, and not hard to do.

Try AMAZON (£39) (£49 Delivered) or Ebay
