I am buying a second hand ford focus and want to get it looked at by a mechanic before i buy it.
What kind of thing would the mechanic be looking for and approx how much should that cost?

    Hi nino1

I recently purchased a car and had a mechanic come with me.

It was money well spent. For 100e he knew from driving it if the clutch was on the way out, the gearbox condition, timing belts etc

We did not buy in the end following his advice as he felt it would cost circa 1000e to fix lots of small things.

We found mechanic from drumcondra business association members.

This mechanic helped us pick out and buy a much better car of the same type in the end.
