Six part series starring and co written by one of the most popular "side men" of British comedy over the last 15 years.

Its going to be a bit silly.

Love Kevin Eldon back from his fist of fun and this morning with Richard not Judy days.

    Is it green jelly?

i watched a couple of clips on the bbc website earlier in the week... thought they were awful and I've loved eldon in everything I've seen him in.
the theme/song/whatever was cringeworthy too, not exactly excited about this but I'll give it a shot.

We could be here all day and night posting classic clips with Kevin Eldon

Can't beat a bit of the actor Kevin Eldon. He is always excellent. Hope the new show goes well for him.

I never expect a new sketch show to be hot "out of the box" so I was happy enough with the opener.

I loved that. Shame Mark Heap wasn't in it though. He was always great with the actor Kevin Eldon.

And it's always nice to see David Cann doing comedy.

I think that's a fair assessment. It has a distinctive style which may take a while to fully warm to. Enjoyable enough, I will be back for episode two.

Ha, love that sketch with a paranoid Heap. This clip from Big Train featuring him is one of my favorite ever sketches. Gold.

I think if this was an unknown comedian I would probably not watch again on the strength of the first episode, but as it's Kevin Eldon i'll give it another shot (whilst supping from a flask of weak lemon drink). It did have some good bits and some very recognisable comedy actors, Simon Munnery/Paul Putner et al.

The late broadcast time doesn't really reflect much confidence by the BBC though, hope that this isn't pushed any later (a la Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle).

Its on at 10 on the rest of the BBC, its only BBCNI that has it on later

At the risk of going a bit OT, that sketch, like a lot of Jam, is hilarious.
But for the life of me i can't really pinpoint its meaning.

    Maybe it's just Eldon's hilarious gurning/antics.
Anyone put me out of my misery and explain it to me. :o

Also, the great doctor/knee sketch with David Cann. Anyone want a stab at that. :pac:

This sketch from Big Train still cracks me up...

Just watched the first episode, very enjoyable. The sketch with the guy who has a soundtrack for everything he says was cleverly done.

Pretty good effort tonight I thought.Loved the Queen's birthday card, junior prime minister magazine and the pension rap especially.

Theme song is stuck in my head now too.

Very good show this week, a lot more hits than misses. It seemed to have a better pace than Episode One.

Kevin must be breaking a record for having so many former colleagues doing cameo roles in the show!

Stewart Lee's in next weeks episode apparently.

Last night's episode was much funnier than episode 1, wonder what the tv critics make of it so far.

Yeah I thought maybe I was just in bad form last week, but this weeks was definitely more 'settled' and funnier. Adam Buxton cameo too, hooray...

I watched some of it last night, I thought it was desperately unfunny.

Last night's episode was much funnier than episode 1, wonder what the tv critics make of it so far.

Andrew Collins in the Guardian (reviewing the first show) made the point that there is so much goodwill to the show, he could have just smiled for 30 minutes and people would have been sympathetic. He went to give it a positive review (unsurprisingly).

It does raise the question whether an unknown comedian producing the same same show would receive an identical appraisal.

Either way, if it continues in a similar vain to Ep 2 I will be happy.

Here is that review in video form, 8.28 in. (Don't be fooled by the misleading URL)

The Amish/Sex Pistols/Bill Grundy Sketch last night was utterly brilliant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

Apparently that Amish sketch was the work of Arthur Mathews (of Big Train and Father Ted, amongst others)

    http://www.hotpress.com/news/9697171.html
The comedy genius – and former Hot Press art person – that is Arthur Mathews celebrated April Fools’ Day by re-working the Sex Pistols’ infamous Bill Grundy interview in an Amish stylee.
Starring Kevin Eldon, Peter Serafinowicz, Bridget Christie and Matt Berry, it has the makings of a great rock ‘n’ religion film.

Enjoyed last night's episode, especially the scouser sketch. Although, The Great Spagboletti sketch did drag on for a bit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

No episode this Sunday, because of stupid Golf. Ah well, back the following week.

Someone synced up the Amish Sex Pistols with the original Bill Grundy interview.
I love the attention to detail.
