Filming a Queue at an ATM

I am asking this in here in the hope of generating a wider range of views and opinions on this:

For what reason would someone have to film a queue at an ATM machine?

A car with 3lads inside passed me whilst I was en route to an ATM lastnight and whilst I was queueing they drove past again, only this time filming the queue whilst driving real slowly down the steet before the lad filming with his phone closed his window back up!

I found it odd; even noted the reg as it wouldn't be a car the driver normally uses (know the driver to see only, but I don't know the other 2lads).

    Thanks in adance,
    kerry4sam

They're just doing one of those time lapse videos as they are most probably keen photographers. It can't really be anything else.

Sounds a bit dodgy to me. I'd definitely be thinking about reporting it as suspicious. Even if it's nothing, better to be safe than sorry.

They probably thought you were hot OP so spun back around for another eyeball! :p

Wouldn't think too much more about it tbh.

By any chance did they beat the sh!te out of you and take all your cash shortly afterwards?

I know those lads well, secretly filming queues, queues and queueing + all things queueing related turn them on bigtime!

after the windows in the car closed all the lads in the back seat fapped all over a picture of a massive queue outside croke park on all ireland finals day while reviewing the footage of the queue you were in

later they are going to share their footage with other like minded queue enthusiasts around the globe through the magic of the inter web!

A quick mention of same to nearest Garda Station would be advisable in my opinion.

I had a somewhat similar experience one Sunday morning a few years ago while sitting in the car waiting for my turn to use the ATM. I was startled by a flash of light and then saw a man stepping back several feet and taking three or four photographs of the machine. I noted the registration number of the car and reported it to the bank but heard no more about it so I don’t know the outcome.

If you can remember the time too let the Gardai know this, also pop into your bank next week and let them know the time this took place too. If the Gardai check the CCTV in the area they can match these guys to any weird stuff at any local banks or ATMs, could be a skimming scam.

Completing a sociological experiment on the rules of queuing?

    They thought you were hot?

    They thought you weren't hot?

They're completing a pictorial cryptic cross word and 10 across sez : Where is Kerry at the moment?

    Ans: ATM

You know the driver to see, is he of good standing in the community?
They might have been filming someone in the queue for there own amusement.

I'm sorry but i found your post hilarious...i read it in a culchie style garda sergeants voice off crime time or crimecall or whatever they are calling it now

We would appeal to the public for more information as these "citizens" may simply have been filming a queue for their own amusement

I think it was the "of good standing in the community" set me off

Thank God you posted that. I was going bonkers, thinking that I was the only one who was amused by that silly tone of voice that they employ. Heard it again yesterday as some Super did his best to justify putting up more taxation meters - sorry, I meant speed cameras.

Whats happened to the youth these days, everything is some sort of ironic commentary etc

Did they happen to have a JCB on a trailor behind them?

Maybe they were taking photos of people in a queue, some of whom are of good standing in the community .
They'll then sell the video to Sesame Street so they can do the song:

One of these guys is doing her own thing,
One of these guys is not the same,
One of these guys is of good standing in the community,
One of these guys is all to blame.:P

Just heard on the news that there were three guys spotted taking pictures of queues at ATMs in Cyprus a week ago. When challenged they spoke with a funny accent, saying 'der' instead of 'the' etc. but other than that nobody knows what they were up to.

Saw a guy take a picture of a woman in the Supermarket once, unawares to herself obviously! She was doing nothing more exciting than browsing the yoghurts!! Thought it odd, but didn't want to freak her out so paid for my goods and left.....Fast forward to weekend, it was one of those Sunday paper competitions...If this is you you've won €100.

Then again...It could be covert surveillance, watch your back! ;)

So you reckon they were from Finglas?

That was my thought too. Camera phone in a moving car at night = streaky video with no usable detail of anything.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.
