I had a cow calve yesterday and the calf died. The boss doesn't want to buy a foster calf saying it is too expensive and wants to put her dry. Any advice on any products needed to put her dry and would I need to draw the teats on the elder over next few days. Just want to keep her elder right for next year god willing. Just looking for advice, thanks

Straw for a couple adays and strig her once a day then throw her on bare grass.

If she was never sucked or drew from don't do any thing with her, she will dry herself.
Bit of hay or straw for a few day and that's it.
If she has a huge bag like a dairy cow you may have to string her and tube her.

Too much cost. Factory or mart and buy in springer

If you are on for keeping her and she has plenty of milk or always has a great calf then buy an AA heifer calf for smallish money and she will keep her udder right but be prepared for some hassle getting them to take to each other
