I read on another forum if you are going for a scroll saw that the most basic model people would use, would be this http://www.iedepot.ie/scroll-saw-for-sale/ ... its a 16inch sip scroll saw.

The lidl one apparently has hard to obtain blades, doesn't have sufficient hold down support so material bounces around randomly.

I guess its the whole saying "you get what you pay for" despite some of lidl and aldi's tools being pretty decent.

had a quick look at an open one in lidl fortunestown this morning, was in getting some other bits anyway. the table seems very flimsy, and it all looks quite cheap. I was looking at getting a scrollsaw a few weeks ago, and thought about this one, but i don't think it'd be a good investment. still thinking maybe about getting a better one, but not sure....

This is supposed to be a good scroll saw. http://www.axminster.co.uk/jet-jet-jss-16-bench-top-variable-speed-scroll-saw-prod365272/ The only negative thing I have heard about them is that the grips that hold the blades have milling marks on them which doesn't hold the blade tightly. A little filing would smoothen them out. It's available here in the Carpentry Store in Naas or McKenna's in Limerick. There are probably other stockists, maybe Ronaynes in Thurles, these are the 3 I know of.

The hole saw set is bloody good and bloody good value..11 euro for 6 different holesaws and 2 adaptor bits too.

    http://www.lidl.ie/cps/rde/xchg/SID-386E4451-A0A73BA9/lidl_ri_ie/hs.xsl/index_29673.htm

Bought a set before and they flew through RSJs and also through floor joists.

Aldi also have the same set for 11 euro too.
