Good speech. I like that he’s questioning the whole socially constructed definition of what “success” means these days; or what it means for some people i.e., being given the “thumbs up” from a celebrity judge.

Good on him for trying to hit home the point that musicians shouldn’t be so eager to give away the rights to their music all for a bank loan and a roll of the dice in the industry. Because chances are, if your music is good enough people will pay attention whether you’ve got the seal of approval from a record company or not.
