Me and a few friends are thinking of going to the Irish national on Easter Monday. Is the racecourse in Rathoath? Do trains go there? Can you get a bus from Galway to Rathoath or somewhere nearby? Any help would be appreciated.

Bus number 105 from Beresford Place, Dublin (just off Abbey St, 30 seconds from busaras)
Bus runs every hour on the hour, I'm sure there would be private buses from Galway and Dublin city centre as well

Train from Tara St station to M3 parkway station, 2 minute taxi to the racecourse. Not sure about times as I've never been on this train

Taxi from Dublin city center is only about €35/40 if ya haggle and agree a price beforehand

Edit: buses are Bus Eireann not Dublin Bus

Thanks, so I could get a bus to Dublin and then out to the racecourse from Beresford place?

Yep, though Bus Eireann is fair expensive!

Was thinking getting the train. Ballinasloe to Connolly Station, However I wouldn't be back in time for the train home. Is Heuston station far from connolly station?

Trains from Ballinasloe go to Heuston. From there its a 10 minute journey by tram to Connolly / Busaras.

This link might help if going from Galway to Dublin on train? Complimentary bus will pick you up at the station in Meath and all.
