Savage job. Where did you get the logic 7 system? Do you retrofit logic 7 systems? I have an E90 330d with the horrific standard audio and I'd love to get a logic 7 system retrofitted.

Aww, I thought it was going to be a proper 6 series, not the bland modern copy.

Title kind of implies it was going to be an e63 to be fair:)

The customer sourced the amp and speakers himself a little while back. They are used parts and came from a M6.

I can supply a Gladen/Mosconi system, the sound quality will blow you away and comes with a 3 years warranty. The system is expandable unlike Logic7.
You can adjust the amp settings from your Android/iPhone phone with an optional bluetooth module.
You can check out the kit details on my site.

Thanks. I only realised after I posted that question that I've actually mailed you before to enquire about upgrading my stereo. My car is still under BMW warranty for another 6 months so I can't go upgrading anything yet, but its defo on the cards once the warranty expires.

Did I miss that? When did you email me? Cheers.

Upgrading the speakers and installing an amplifier would not affect your warranty in any way.
You could even get your car serviced at Pits Stop during the warranty period instead of going to BMW, that would not affect your warranty either (Don't do it though ;))

It is a nice place to sit in in fairness. Very confy.
And with a few subtle mods the e63/e64 will look fantastic in my opinion.

    635 CSi would be a 'proper' 6 series. :D

I have logic 7 in my E92 and it is a massive step up from the standard system.

Does the E63 logic 7 have subs under the seats?

Edit: Forgot to say top work!

Yes sure they do, same number of speakers.

    Nice install write up.
All e63 have the subs under the seats. I'd love to hear the Logic 7 system in action for comparison, I think the standard system in the 6 is pretty OK.

As for the "proper" 6 Series debate, the e24 is a gorgeous car & definitely on my "want" list but having initially hated the e63 when it first came out it has grown on me. It is a fantastic car & the distinctive looks are ageing well. As bmstuff it is a nice place to be on a long spin, the kind of car that you want to sit in & just blast across Europe.

Coming from standard sound system or even hi-fi, the Logic7 is quiet breathtaking, it is so much better.

Now the speakers are very good overall but could be better. The subs are a little weak to a perfectionist. The power rating of the subs is low, from memory 35 watts for the Harman Kardon. Standard are 21 watts from memory too.

Overall again it is such a nice improvement that will please most people, including myself.

But it can be better, with better subs and a dedicated sub amplifier and better speakers.

    Hello bmstuff.
    Nice work out there. :)

I'm in the same situation right now. I have retrofitted the Logic7 audio system in my car (E60, 2008) and i have a problem.
The amplifier is brand new, never coded before.
A friend added the option $677 to my car, coded the LMA and CAS. But when the AMPT (amplifier) is not responding for coding.
Also since i connected the amplifier in the MOST optical ring of the car, the Bluetooth stoped working and i get a SOS failure message on my BC, like my optical fiber ring seems to be open.

The friend said the amplifier must be programmed, as it's brand new and never programmed before.
Do you know something about this?

You can not code your amp because it is not on the MOST loop.
The device does not need programing, it is programed from factory.
AS a matter of fact it does not even need coding. You can swap around Logic7 amplifiers in different cars, they will simply work.

Now think of the MOST bus as some plumbing. You have a pipe for cold water, another one for hot water. Obviously those pipes need to be closed otherwise you will have a water leak.

In order to extend the current MOST connect to the amp, you need to hook into the BT module properly.
As show on the photo below.
You need accessories in order to do that.

    7.jpg

Once the MOST ring is restored, your BT and amp will work.

Now you will need to rewire all the speakers back to the amp, because these are not wired, even if you have HIFI already. Only the subs will work.

See below, a custom loom we made on spot.

I've already connected the speakers to the new amp. Before that, i changed them all to L7 speakers.
Previously i was on standard sound (without any amp in trunk). So all speakers where driven by the CCC.

I have a MOST hub (or something like that) in the trunk, near the left rear wheel and the BT module. I inserted there the optical fiber from the amp into the car's MOST system. So in my opinion the MOST system is closed.

I will be back with some photos, later.

Ok if your BT no longer works there is a good chance the loop is opened. Do you see the red light coming out of the fibre plug that goes into the amp?

    Done ! :)
Someone reversed the optical fibre in the plug that goes into the amp. :)
I've coded the amp flawlesly and now it's working great.

    Thanks for the advice. :)

    The problems are not over.
One speaker started to qweek. :(

I can't believe... it's a brand new amplifier and already with problems. Worse... i have no warranty on it.

Good news. A speaker squeeks, not the amp. :)

The rear door speaker fitment was done by me. I did not want to buy another door cover.
Also the amplfifier bracket was modified by me, to fit the actual trunk trim, not to buy a new one. :)

I have HI-FI installed and soounds decent, but not good.
    Thx in advance..

    Hello

Mosconi/Gladen is on a different level for sure and will be far superior to Harman Kardon speakers and amplifiers.
Mosconi is used in a lot of high end audio upgrades with very demanding car owners

Harman Kardon / JBL are not used in high end setups, these are considered overpriced poor performance products by ICE professionals.

Yet Mosconi/Gladen are affordable and with longer warranties than say Focal for example. Many Focal products only come with 1 year warranty. Gladen is 3 and Mosconi 2.
Now of course you have budget speakers and amps in the Gladen range, still they perform very well.

    Few pics here for example

    Hi Mick,

I've just bought a 630 conv with standard audio and would like to upgrade with either logic 7 or better which does not take any more space up and is I drive compatible. Do you offer this service and are you in London area?

    Cheers
    Marcp
