Is Light Rock Fishing the new Saltwater Flyfishing?

Seems to be a lot of interest and uptake, driven by reality of smaller fish and the love of a good fight on light tackle (see floundering at http://ecoastfishing.blogspot.ie/).

Some of the dedicated LRF gear is beautiful, but expensive too (http://www.artoffishing.co.uk/lrf-fishing/lrf-light-rock-fishing/e150742fcf). great to see it happening.

Anyone recommend some good gear (under 150 total rod/reel) or offer insights into the best lures (seems to be lures and not baits)?

Shame there aren't more multiplier reel options.

Time to decommission the beachcaster for me.

I dunno is it the new swff, to be honest I wonder how light is too light, I do most of my lure fishing with a 10-40 gram spinning rod for wrasse and pollock and while a lot of the fish i catch might only be a pound or two I have caught wrasse to nearly 5lb and pollock to 8lb doing it and the rod was maxed out and if you let a wrasse run its game over, you might get away with it with a pollock alright. Should be good crack for mini species and flounder alright but dont get out of your depth with it. Im going to get a 10 weight fly rod myself this year for pollock and pike, I have a friend that does a lot of swff and at the right mark I think its more effective than lure for catching pollock. For flounder I think the small curly tail grubs are supposed to be good, I find 3'' senkos/sticks in green or small 4'' storm sandeels very good for wrasse. AGM tackle in the uk do cheap sp lures and the postage is fairly reasonable too.
