Wilson Kipsang talks about how it hung around for a few years after school at home and through winning a 5k where the top 10 got jobs in the police and a structure to train. It could be argued that you could end up with a few guys/girls that would not make good police but this has not stopped the banking sector in Ireland hiring GAA players.

So I suggest the following. If you own or manage a sports shop that is targeted at runners then why not offer a job in your shop. You could have it as a 3/6 month probationary period first and most skills are learned and personally if I was a young unemployed person with a running potential (perhaps in school but let it go a bit) and I needed a break and all I needed to do was win a race to get a job then it could be the break that someone needed ?
