    Hello

I have had 2 interviews with an employer over the last 2 months. Both went very well and got great feedback saying I was one of two front runners for two jobs and offers would be made at end of march

Got email during week asking me to fill up application form incl references etc .

I'm taking it that this s good sign ? Never had to do this before . Would they do this for other applicants or just ones they expect to make offers to

They might just be trying to get ahead of the paper work in case they choose to take you on,so everything is ready to go once decision is made. I would do that with the people that I am most interested in, but it's doesn't necessarily mean its a job offer.

It is a good sign to have gotten this far, but you are better waiting on the final decision before getting your hopes up.

    Thanks

Would you always have a back up person for each position when you go to offer ?

They also confirmed salary and availability during week for 3 of us(2 jobs). Recruiter said they would always have a 3rd person as a backup , can't help being optimistic when they said I was front runner :-)

Im lucky enough that for the most part in my current job, when I hire its in groups of people for relief contracts, with no real restriction on the number. At interview stage I get the people who have done well and look promising to fill in the paperwork just in case; but it's not always a job offer. In my line of work references are extremely important, so I'd get them before a definite offer is made.

I've been in the position where I was the back up, told that they would keep me on file in case things didn't work out or if another job came up. unfortunately nothing came of it. I'm not sure in that case where it is a specific role/job, that maybe you would have to interview again if number 1 didn't work out?

Yeah I have been the backup before too and nothing came of it.

Did my final interview 6 weeks ago so hopefully they wouldn't ask me to fill up this app form and confirm availability unless they were thinking of making an offer

Still , you never know. All I can do is make sure my references are top notch
