I've had many minutes of frustration with voice control in various different cars. Ford in particular (standard across of lot of their models) has great difficulty in understanding me - even if I speak in my best Queen's English.

Haven't used the VW system, but on the Ford it takes much longer and more commands (menu system) to change anything via voice control than it does to change it by hand or the steering wheel buttons.

Better ways to spend circa €220 in my opinion.

I've voice control in my 2007 Civic, but don't use it really.

It is integrated with the sat nav, so I can say "find nearest petrol station", but doesn't have a huge POI database.

The hands free phone system, I did sit down and set up a list of frequently used phone numbers so I could say "Call Mr. X" but I rarely bother pairing my phone with the car for a trip, so that's underused too.

So if you're not a massive user of sat nav and hands free phones, what else is really left for voice control?
Except maybe if you use the radio, or CD's often for audio.

We have it on our octavia I assume it would be a similar system on the golf there all vag cars. We never use it you have to speak very clearly for it to work. I personally wouldn't pay 220 euro for it. It comes standard on the elegance spec octavia that's the only reason we have it.

that makes my mind alot easier as i dont use the phone in the car enough to warrant the 220 euro for voice control!

    maybe a different extra instead!

I've had it in a couple of cars. Adds to the stress levels. I'd much rather spend the money on a colour mfd or the automatic cruise control if I was getting a golf

I have it in my own car, never use it tbh. Like someone else said, I'd spend the extra money on CC,sunroof or other.

I have it. Used it once to try it out when I got the car. Haven't used it since. Total waste of money.

It's a novelty but in a few years it might take off.
    Indeed, get parking sensors instead.

Have it in my focus for over six years. Think its brilliant and use it all the time. Should be a standard safety feature in all new cars if you ask me.

Have it in my car and it's ok for calling names/numbers from your phone's contact list but using it with the sat nav is a waste of time. Now maybe it has improved since my car is 5 years old but I wouldn't be in a hurry to add it to the options list.
