New coat ... Galvanise

    I have metal gates that were galvanised I want to clean them up with a fresh cost of paint ... They are black. Is there any particular type if paint I should go for? Ir.... Would any kind of metal paint do ?

    That me sorted aswell...as I was wanting to paint a new galvanised metal frame aswell.

    Be carefull, if its new galvanise you may need to treat it first or the paint will peel. We used to use a product called (t wash) years ago although some paints like (hempel paints) claim to do the job in one go. The op can just paint over existing paint no problem.

    If there is a trade paint suppliers in your area get teknadur combi, its a two pack paint that can be applied directly on to the galvanise.

    Make sure you clean off the old paint first with a wire brush and sand paper.

    Correct hempel t wash 09940 should be used

    Great paint I got this mixed up with the hempel earlier, it can be applied straight on galvanise and is very durable.

    Teknos/teknadur or Jotun is excellent for aluminium or galv, no etch needed and brilliant finishes.
