am trying to sort a friendly for this week for Boards v Rocco, ideally for tomorrow.

waiting on a reply from astro about pitch. if he doesnt reply by this evening, we will have to have it wednesday, as its too late to organise teams, especially with most people off work today.

will let ye know asap anyway.

Jesus ed I'd say tomorrow is far too short notice for a lot of people

Im game for that. Tomorrow or Wednesday.

ya they only came back this morning with availability.

however, the main thing is due to the snow/cold weather, he reckons there is a chance the pitch will be closed. given the hassle it would take to get 22 players and this lateness/risk, i think we will wait.

as ireland are playing at home next week on tuesday, this would effect our numbers as we have 4 or 5 late who go to all home games and im sure 1 or 2 of your lads as well, so how about we play Monday night instead?

i can confirm this today if they have availability and we can start to get numbers together.

I'm interested in getting involved with a team at the minute, and I live in Dundrum so the location makes sense, but what sort of standard are we talking here?

I'm 32, the fitness needs a bit of work and I always played GAA so I have no background in competitve soccer, but I am no mug and have always more than held my own in 5 a-sides/indoor. Would that be good enough?

    Good game last night lads.

We had 5 regulars and the rest were new guys, we played some great football with some very intricate passing for large parts of the game.

Lost 2-0 but the result is not important, what is important is having everyone get to know each other and kick on from there.

Will be another friendly next week which i'll post up details about later in the week.

Are you still looking for players?
I normally play on the left or the centre of defence.

    Hey there, yes we are.
We will have another friendly next Tuesday, so check the forum for details mate!

Agree with what's been said already, good competitive game and it was one where the performance matters more than the result. Great to see some new players putting in strong shifts and good to see a couple of players from previous seasons return looking very sharp.

There were some excellent passing moves at times, with much more linkage between the midfield and forwards than we had at times last season and with plenty of through-balls attempted: though many were inches away from coming off, it was good to see lads not get frustrated and those balls are exactly what we need to keep focusing on attempting as when one comes off, it can be the match-winner.

So, hopefully see all the new lads again next week and anyone else who is interested, take it that you're welcome to come down and have a run out to check it out in the next friendly.

Cheers for the runout lads, always good to get a game in!

Are you still looking for players, i'm a year or two out of action but fairly fit still, bit rounder maybe. Play any position.
